Hi I'm Desiree and I'm an art teacher. This semester I will be interning at Pleasant View Elementary which is a k-8 arts magnet school- spring semester I will be at Bath High School.
Personally, I am a hands-on visual learner. I like to really get to know students as best as I can and what it is they are interested in and what helps them learn.
I like planning a lot of lessons that are hands on and fun, but also teach students something relevant.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, reading, painting, and being outdoors.

We didn't have specialties today, but we have an ice breaker activity planned for tomorrow to get to know our middle school students and for them to be able to get to know each other. We thought that these worksheets would help to facilitate discussion between students and help us all find out some interesting things about each other. We also thought it was important for the students to find commonalities as well. Obviously these questions aren't too in depth, but we thought that they would be a fun way to start building up our classroom community!
Hi Desiree!
What a great way to help students get to know each other and get them moving around the room and asking each other questions! I like the categories and the visual layout of the handouts, too :) What happens if students have trouble finding all the categories or seven commonalities? How might you connect this to art and to your expectations for students this year (for instance, could they get peers to draw in categories? do a project about one of these later?)? - sherrymi
